Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."    Matthew 19:14

A Growing Church Gets It's Children Involved

Zion UCC offers a variety of activities to minister to children of all ages.  Our Sunday sermon includes a time "mostly" for children.  Children in the congregation are invited to come forward to listen to a sermon designed specially for them.  Other activities include the Cherub Choir, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Jr. and Sr. High Youth Fellowships.  Confirmation classes are held for 7th and 8th grade youths.

See our slide show presentation of many of the fun activities that Zion UCC provides to get our young people involved.

SUMMER 2007 MISSION TRIP

           For The Young At Heart
Zion UCC provides everyone opportunities to get involved in church through a variety of activites.  We offer adult Sunday School classes, periodic special Bible Studies, Sr. Choir, Summer Softball League and our Women's Guild hosts a variety of events throughout the year.

Members of the congregation also serve as liturgists.  Our liturgists begin the service with announcements, the call to worship, opening hymn and the invocation.

What's A Church Without Church Food?

Zion UCC hosts 3 big dinners each year.  We serve breakfast after our Sunrise Service on Easter morning.

Our Summer Social is on the first Saturday in June.  We eagarly await it every year for the great fried chicken and homemade ice cream!!!

The Fall Dinner is the first Saturday in November.  It features turkey and dressing and some of the best homemade desserts you will find anywhere.

In 2007, during Lent, we had a meal before each Wednesday night church service.  The food and fellowship were second to none.
What else do we do?

Zion UCC gets involved in all kinds of community activities too.  We participate in the Kiwanis Kids Day, special "Trick or Treat" activities, Elberfeld Christmas Parade ( Santa has been known to show up at church afterwards), we go caroling, and provide cookie baskets to shut-ins and the elderly at Christmas.  We have an Easter Egg Hunt and bake sales.  We recently had a Chicken and Dumpling booth at the Elberfeld Centennial Celebration and  participated in the Community Church Service held outside.
